For me, it is always been the conceptualizing which directed the method, i.e. the "what" dictatin the "how." Color, shapes and line are to be manipulated to produce the "message" which is foremost, in my estimation. Drawing has been a natural, pure pursuit employed in all that I do... the "gesture" contains the essence of all expression, energy... hence life.

Our worldly affairs warrant addressing, questioning, judging.... even mocking (to preserve sanity). Humor is the strongest ingredient around... and I try to seize and employ it in my expressions. Since my early days, I have been most interested in depicting the human... in style, activity, whatever. "Figurative artist" is the term applied to me.

However, this place, these skies, farmlands, waterways of Skagit County are so life affirming... a beautiful balance calm in our lives. I may turn to all this as subject matter.
